1 out of 4 males will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime – be it child sexual abuse or sexual assault experienced as an adult in some form. Today on our special series with The Good Men Project, Christopher M. Anderson joins us to help millions deal with the silence and the shame. His organization Male Survivor provides critical resources to male survivors of sexual trauma and their partners to find hope, healing and support.
“Male survivors tend to disclose 20 years or more after the abuse,” says Christopher. “And many say, ‘I tried to tell but no one believed me.’ We want to make sure we’re supporting all survivors, not just women and girls.”
A survivor of multiple forms of childhood trauma, Christopher has overcome battles with severe depression, anxiety disorders, and suicidal impulses to become an internationally acclaimed public speaker and author. His website is www.malesurvivor.org. You can follow him on Twitter @chander2nyc.

Thank you so much LeGrande! There is one correction I need to make – I misread my notes when speaking with LeGrande at the opening of the episode. Dr. Finkelhor’s data suggests that almost 10% of male children are sexually abused currently, and the CDC estimates that 25% of males will experience some form of sexual abuse in their lifetime.
